Me again!!!!

overcast

Ok so now another update on me! sorry that it has taken so long!

I am now in Greensboro, North Carolina visiting a good friend from school Sweden but first lets go back a few weeks!

We explored the town of Oxford and walked around all the different colleges and along the river! It is a very cute city and the colleges are pretty amazing!

After Oxford we took the Eurostar from London across the Brussels to stay with two of my friends from school in Sweden - Anke and Bori! We had a great few days sightseeing around Brussels and saw the sight of the European Parliament, the main square in Brussels, the famous little boy that pees, went to a real Belgian beer cafe and ate lots of waffles and chocolate! On our last day we went to the town of Brugge - which is often referred to as the Venice of the North! It is a really cute little town set on all these canals and it has some cute main squares and little streets! We had a great time and it was awesome to catch up with the girls!

On Australia Day we headed back to London and left our stuff with my Aunt Lily before heading out to the Slug and Lettuce in Fulham for Australia Day celebrations! we met up with two guys from our tour and spent the avo dancing to aussie music - everything from John Farnham, Powderfinger and Men at Work! It was great fun and def the best night out of the trip!!!

The next day we just hung out at Lily's and packed up before we flew out! I did two trips to the post office and sent three boxes of stuff home!

On Jan 28 - exactly three months since we left home I flew to New York and Shannon flew home! It was sad to say goodbye to her after spending everyday together for 3 months but I was excited to fly to the USA! The flight from London to Montreal went well but upon arriving in Montreal we discovered that there had been a major storm across Canada and northern USA! I was not sure whether we would be able to fly out to New York but after a two hour delay we finally left and I arrived in NYC at 12.30 pm! I finally fell into bed around 1.30 after a very long day of travelling!

New York City
I met up with Caroline around 11 am on the 29th Jan and we hit Times Square and the shops! We headed to GAP, Macy's and walked up 5th Avenue! We stopped in at Saks and some other famous shops and just enjoyed strolling along this famous street! We went to FAO Schwarz and played on the Big Piano - so much fun - and also headed to Bloomingdales where I purchased my own Little Brown Bag!!!!

The next day we did a tour of the UN which was really interesting! We saw the Grand Assembly Chamber and learnt about the roles and responsibilities of this amazing organisation! After this we did a little more shopping and after just going into to look at Tiffany's - I did leave with a little blue bag! We then did a Sex and the City tour which showed you some of the sites where the filmed the show and the movie! We had cupcakes from the Magnolia bakery (which were so good) and also saw quite a bit of the lower east and west side of the city such as SoHo, Nolita and the Meatpacking district! It made me want to come back to New York and spend a week or so just exploring these awesome areas of the city!!! After our tour we hit the HBO store and bought some SATC memorabilia before heading back to the hotel and falling into bed!

The next day Caroline and I headed up to Central Park and took a walk around this beautiful park! There was still snow on the ground so this made it all the more magical! With the skating rink in the foreground and the Plaza in the background it was just like something out of a movie! It was really cold -5 with a freezing wind so I after saying goodbye to Caroline (who was flying home) I headed back to the hotel, put on more layers and then headed out to see the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue and the site of the WTC!

I walked across the Bridge to the middle and took some cool pictures of the city and the bridge itself! It is an amazing structure and def something to see when you come to the city! I then took the subway down to Battery Park and took the free ferry across the Staten Island and back! Whilst not actually stopping at the State of Liberty the ride still gives you a great view of it and Ellis Island and also a fantastic view of the Manhattan Skyline! It is also free - which was another incentive! After the freezing trip back I then took the subway back up to Ground Zero and visited the WTC tribute centre! This is def a must see - it traces the history of the buildings from their design and development through to 9/11 and beyond! It was really very moving and a great tribute to all those affected by the tragedy!

After this I headed back to my hotel, grabbed an early dinner, packed and prepared for my flight out the Greensboro the next day!

I arrived in Greensboro at 5 pm yesterday and was met by Lauren! We went back to her house and then headed to her mums place to watch the superbowl and have dinner! I watched a little bit of the game but got a bit lost in the rules and so on!

Today we are just hanging at home and tomorrow we may go to an old plantation!

So now you are updated! Take care!

Hello from Oxford

An update of the past three weeks!

sunny 5 °C

ok so it has been a long time again but here is an update on me!

last time I wrote from Edinburgh - which I absolutely loved! The castle was amazing and we did an awesome walking tour which took us to many different sites such as the Royal Mile, the Castle and the cafe where JK Rowling started on Harry Potter!

After Edinburgh we headed to the town on Chester which is write on the border of Wales! This is an old roman town that still has a complete wall around it! It was very cute and nice to go somewhere that was not overly touristy!

We then headed across the sea to explore another country- Ireland! We stayed in Dublin for two nights and did another walking tour there which also showed the important sites! We saw Trinity College, temple bar and learnt about the infamous 1916 Easter Uprising!

The next day we heading to Limerick which is on the River Shannon (which is why we had to visit). The river is the largest in Ireland and one of the biggest in Europe! Limerick is also where Angela's Ashes is set! We saw two awesome medieval castles here!

We then headed to Killarney which is a small town of 12,000 situated next to a huge national park! We walked through the park to see Ross Castle which sits on this huge lake and is backed by awesome majestic castles! Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad so we were forced to spend a whole day inside playing scrabble and did not get to explore more of the park but i would definitely go back! We also went out to a real Irish pub and listened to true Irish music and a cool Irish covers band!

We spent the next day travelling from Killarney back to Dublin to take the ferry back to Holyhead in Wales! We arrived at 3pm only to find out that the ferry we wanted to take at 4 pm was a car ferry only and that we had to wait for 6 hours till the next ferry went at 9pm! So we sat at the Dublin ferry port for hours before we finally got on at 9 pm, got into Wales at 12.30 pm and to bed at 1.30pm!

The next day we took the train to the Welsh capital of Cardiff! We were originally going to only spend two nights here but after looking at accomm in Bath we decided that it was too expensive and that we would stay longer in Cardiff and take the train to Bath and back in one day!

Cardiff is a really cute city with an awesome walled castle! The castle is absolutely amazing and very ornately decorated - definitely one of my favourites! We walked around the city and the next day went down to the Harbour and just explored the city again!

The next day we went to Bath! The city was really pretty and we went in the original roman baths and spent some time learning about their history! We also went to the Jane Austen museum and learnt about her life and writing!

The next day we went to see yet another castle on the outskirts of Cardiff before heading to Salisbury (which is the closest town to Stonehenge)! This again is another cute little town in the south of England! We headed out to Stonehenge yesterday and it was awesome! The weather was freezing and windy but it is amazing to this majestic circle and to know how old it is and to wonder how on earth it got there! It was definitely worth doing! After Stonehenge we headed back into Salisbury, went to its amazing cathedral - which has the tallest church spire in the UK and which also houses one of 4 original copies of the Magna Carta - the treaty that was written by king John and noblemen in 1215! It basically sets out human rights which have been used as a basis for the constitutions of many countries since!

Today we left Salisbury and headed to Oxford! We arrived around lunchtime and have just spent the time getting our bearings and planning what to see tomorrow! On wednesday we head to Brussels to meet some old school friends of mine and then we return to London on the 26th before flying out on the 28th!

Will write again from Brussels!!!

A really long time with no news!

Yes I am still alive!

sunny 5 °C

Hell everyone,

Well I know that it has been a really long time since I wrote but we have been so busy on tour that there is very little time for the internet! The tour has been fantastic so far - so much fun and a really great group of people! 95% of the group are Aussies with two kiwis, a colombian, brazilian, a japanese, Welshman and Dane rouding out the group!

We are now in Berlin and only have four days left on tour! I am about to run out of time on the net but just thought that I would write quickly to let you all know that I am ok! Will ty to get on the net again soon and give you a full update on the trip! If you want to read more try Shannon's blog - http://shan_e_ moore.travellerspoint!

Love to all and I will write again soon,

London, Oxford Street and a potential bomb threat!!!

sunny 8 °C

Well we finally arrived in London around 7.00 pm last night after a whole day of travelling! We arrived at the backpackers to find a cold and drafty room with little heating and fairly dodgy bathrooms! We quickly both came to the conclusion that we could not stay here for 9 nights after our tour so we have decided to cancel our booking here and are going to stay with my great Aunt about 30 mins out of London! this means we will save about 500 dollars - all the more for shopping I say!!!

Today we got up early to get to the showers before everyone else (you see there are only 5 showers for the whole floor and minimal hot water!) We then hit the shops as I needed to buy a pair of news jeans as my others broke in Stockholm! Well was this an undertaking - it seems that most shops don't stock jeans to fit a curvy womanly figure such as myself yet we still walked the length of Oxford Street looking! I eventually got some from the Gap store just around the corner from us (after being into 3 already)! I also bought a cute Jumper and a GAP London T-Shirt! Gotta love GAP!!!

The major thing that happened was that as we were walking back along Oxford St a whole block was cordened off and police and emergency services were crawling the place! We are thinking that is was probably a bomb threat but are waiting to see what the news says!

We are heading to the local pub for dinner tonight and then early to bed! We move to the Contiki hotel tomorrow night before heading on tour at some ungodly hour on Wednesday morning! This time on Wednesday we will be in Paris!
